Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a joyous time in a woman’s life when she is preparing herself to be a mother. Of course, it has its challenges, and it can be stressful, physically uncomfortable and emotionally draining as well. If you are single, you may find your pregnancy to be a bit more difficult but still rewarding nonetheless.

Being pregnant and on your own

One of the most important pieces of advice that other single, pregnant women have given is to have a strong support system. It can be hard at first to ask for help from family or friends, but when you don’t have a built-in partner, it can be necessary. You need to think about how you will paint the nursery when the fumes make you want to vomit everywhere, or how will you put together the crib when you can’t even bend down. Having someone there to help you with these types of things will make your life unbelievably easier, and friends and family are generally thrilled to be of assistance.

You will also want to think about who you want to be with you in the delivery room. Giving birth is not something you want to do alone as it is not only painful but also emotionally stressful. Plus you might want someone there to share in your joy when your little bundle of joy finally arrives.

Most single, pregnant women have recalled that friends and family are more than happy to help in any way possible before and after the birth. Your loved ones will be happy for you and want to enjoy your little miracle alongside you, so do not feel as though you are burdening them by asking for help.

The difficulties

You may find it difficult to go to birthing or childcare classes where you will be undoubtedly surrounded by women and their husbands. Do not be intimidated by this as you all have one thing in common: you love your unborn child with all your heart. To feel more comfortable, you could ask a friend or family member to accompany you to these groups. They can not only provide emotional support but also share the memory with you.

People will most likely ask you questions and then not know how to respond to your response, but stay confidant! This is your choice, and you should be proud of what you’re doing and not let anyone’s opinion change that.

The benefits

You don’t need to compromise on anything! You can paint that nursery whatever color you want and decide every detail on your own. You get to enjoy this incredible experience and feel an unbreakable bond between you and your child without sacrificing anything.
